Tips + Guidelines
If you are unsure of spa etiquette, the anticipation of what happens during your visit to a spa may cause you some stress! We want your visit to Deserving Thyme Lifespa to be a relaxing, rejuvenating one, so the following information we hope will demystify the experience.
Assistance With Making An Appointment:
If you are unsure about booking a service, one of our treatment providers will be happy to consult with you over the phone or in person for no charge.
Reservations:
We have reserved time especially for you. As a courtesy to other guests and our treatment providers, please give us 24-hour's notice if you must cancel or change any treatments.
Cancellation Policy:
We understand plans may change, in order to properly serve our clients, we require 24 hour cancellation notice. With less than 24 hour notice, 50% of the service price will be charged.
Check-In:
Please arrive 15 minutes in advance of an appointment to ensure a relaxing experience, and to fill out any necessary personal information. We regret that late arrivals will not receive an extension of scheduled treatments.
What To Do:
Nothing at all. You are our guest and we want to take care of you. You deserve it!
Communicating:
Your treatment, your time and your body are yours and we want you to thoroughly enjoy your experience. Our treatment providers will speak to you about the room temperature, pressure in massage, music level, product and sequence of service they are providing. Please be sure to communicate your preferences to your treatment provider.
Modesty:
With a massage we recommend that you undress to your level of comfort. Our providers are trained in the "art of draping", they will leave the treatment room while you get under the sheet and blanket on the massage table, keep you covered at all times except for the area of the body they are working on and will leave the treatment room before you get up from the table.
During a Body Wrap you will be required to shower part way through a treatment. We will protect your privacy and drape the shower door with a generous towel as the treatment provider does need to stay in the room to re-dress the bed. As trained treatment providers they are always aware to keep their back to you for modesty reasons.
Kind Consideration:
In consideration of other guests and the spa atmosphere we ask that all cellular phones and pagers be turned off before entering the spa. Our front desk will be happy to take any messages for you during your treatment.
Socializing:
Although we try to disguise outside sounds with music and sound-absorbant walls, loud voices do filter through. We ask that you be mindful of other guests and try to keep conversations at a low volume.
Jewelry:
Most treatments flow more easily without the interference of jewelry. We recommend removing neck and wrist ornaments if possible; we prefer that you wear your rings and urge you to be mindful of not leaving valuables behind.
Sun and Spa:
Please be conscious that some treatments may expose brand new skin to the elements. An all over application of quality, high SPF product is recommended especially for the first few days after the treatment. Our facial treatments are finished with a moisturizer and a sun protection factor of 15 or more.
Shaving:
If you need to shave (particularly beardless men receiving a facial), do it at least two hours before your appointment. If you have booked a body scrub we highly recommend shaving the day before since we can assure you that rubbing salt into the tiniest razor wound is not a very relaxing experience.
Food and Beverage:
It's best not to receive bodywork on a full stomach, so schedule meals or snacks at least an hour before your treatment. Since bodywork introduces clean, oxygenated and nourished fluids into your tissues and stimulates your body to purge toxins, it is important to flush them out by drinking plenty of water.
Children:
Due to our intimate environment, children are welcome only if they have an appointment for services.
Groups:
Many organizations and groups use our unique spa to reward their staff, clients and friends. Our professional services have proven to be the perfect choice for creating memorable experiences for a group for an hour, afternoon or a day. Please email
reservations@lifespa.ca and specify your requirements. We welcome the opportunity to host your function.
Payment:
We accept cash, debit, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Deserving Thyme Lifespa gift cards for products or services.
Gratuities:
Gratuities are not included in our prices. In appreciation of outstanding service, gratuities may be given at your discretion. Cash gratuities are appreciated and envelopes are available at our front desk.
